OLD MAN RIVER TO SUPPORT NEWTON FAULKNER ON HIS SEPTEMBER TOUR – PLUS INTERNATIONAL SPECIAL GUEST SARA BAREILLES IN SYDNEY ONLY!
This September’s Newton Faulkner shows just got hairier with curly-mopped Sydney based musician Old Man River confirmed to support the ginger-dread man on his national tour.

Old Man River, known to his friends as Ohad Rein is a storyteller, a natural songwriter, a musician, and a traveller who recently toured the world to promote his debut album “Good Morning”, which features the single “La”, a #1 airplay hit in Italy, Germany and Japan.
Old Man River is without doubt an old soul, inspired by everything around him, laughing through life even if it means busking in New York to be able to eat, and this energy and sentiment emanates through his music.
The Newton Faulkner support dates will come sandwiched between Ohad’s upcoming tour dates in Israel and Japan, and his performances as part of the Australian production of the ‘Morning Of The Earth’ live concert.
The tour starts out at the Capitol in Perth on Wednesday 3rd September, and then moves on to Adelaide’s Thebarton Theatre on Friday 5th September. Newton performs at The Forum in Melbourne on Saturday 6th September, Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Monday 8th September and finishes up in Brisbane at the Tivoli on Wednesday 10th September. Tickets for all shows are on sale now and selling fast.

Los Angeles local Sara Bareilles, in Australia this September on a short promotional tour, will open the night’s proceedings at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre. Sara is in good company with the headline act, with the two artists both celebrating status with number one most played singles in Australia in the past two months.
Sara’s number one airplay single, 'Love Song' is the first track taken from her debut album, 'Little Voice'. With a piano-based pop-rock sound, Sara has been compared to Fiona Apple, Norah Jones and Sheryl Crow. Her one off performance opening Newton Faulkner’s Sydney show on Monday 8th September will come just a couple of weeks after a month long US tour with Counting Crows and Maroon 5.
Newton Faulkner was a relative unknown in Australia just a few months ago, but talk of the dread-locked songman was rife following his stand out performances at the 19th Annual East Coast Blues and Roots Festival in Byron Bay last March.
Some of his recent performances have featured cover versions of 2 Unlimited’s “No Limits”, Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”, Dead or Alive’s “You Spin Me Round”, and Massive Attack’s “Teardrop”, that latter featured on his debut album. Some would call these songs unusual choices for an artist better known for his earthy voice, roots music and a guitar playing style that involves unusual plucking techniques and raw, repetitive tapping the instruments body.
Already he’s performed at some of the greatest festivals in the world including Glastonbury and V Festival, Isle of Wight, Sasquatch, Bonnaroo and soon to perform at Lollapalooza. He has opened for James Morrison, Paolo Nutini, John Butler Trio, John Mayer and more, but on this visit to Australia he is the headline star.
Newton Faulkner debut track “Dream Catch Me” has become one of the biggest radio hits of 2008, and the newly released his follow up single “I Need Something” is a song already destined for the same mega-success.
But this tour will be more than a chance to see radio’s new favourite performing his hit songs live in concert, but an experience that will leaving you singing your way home and tapping your toes like they were a rustic old guitar.
