SYDNEY SONGBIRD, MELANIE HORSNELL JOINS SAN DIEGO SONGMAN JASON MRAZ ON HIS AUGUST TOUR OF AUSTRALIA

Jason Mraz is a musician that musician’s want to work with, the duets on his latest record with UK artist James Morrison and Colbie Caillat are the first examples of this, the second is the persistent submissions from local artists for the opening spot on his August tour.

Sydney songbird Melanie Horsnell has taken out the coveted spot, being personally selected by the artist himself. “‘She’s got great lyrics and a soulful and artsy voice,’” said Mraz.

In this fast-food world of manufactured music, Melanie Horsnell is truly one of a kind. She writes songs of real life and loves, and has built a loyal fan base on a one to one basis, in intimate venues throughout Australia, Europe and Great Britain.

Crammed in between her regular European tours and local residencies, Melanie has also toured Australia with the likes of The Frames, Bernard Fanning and Josh Pyke and recently set up her very own Independent label in Australia, Inflatable Girlfriend Records.

Melanie will join Jason Mraz and his super band in Perth at the Capitol on Wednesday 6th August, Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Saturday 9th August, then travel to Melbourne to play the Forum in on Tuesday 12th and the Prince of Wales Bandroom on Wednesday 13th, finishing up at the Tivoli in Brisbane on Thursday 14th August.

Mraz’s new album, his third studio release, “We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things.” is climbing the charts and is set to be his biggest record yet. The first single from the record “I’m Yours” already a worldwide internet hit before it was officially released has had major exposure in Australia as the soundtrack to promotional spots for the new Channel 7 TV show, “Packed To The Rafters”.

With the first Melbourne Jason Mraz show sold out, and the Perth show moving to a larger venue just a couple of weeks after going on sale, the precedent has been set. All other shows are selling fast with only a handful of tickets remaining around the country – be quick to secure yours.
