on Double Bass
throughout
THE DIAMOND DAYS Tour.
"(Eric) gave an awesome display of controlled technique, generating as much heat and passion as a full-size R&B line-up...
A startlingly confident display, underpinned
by the ultra-solid double-bass playing of the peerless Danny Thompson. Unquestionably
a major figure."
The Times – 2006 live review
"Eric Bibb is a man with a burning mission: to keep alive the tradition of 20th-century American blues, folk and gospel music.
The intensity and discipline of his approach (was) clear… In terms of achieving its stated aims, this was an unimprovable evening."
The Telegraph – 2006 live review
"A voice to die for."
The Times
"A superb musician and performer."

International troubadour, Eric Bibb, is returning to Australia in February 2007 in support of his new album, Diamond Days, which will be released on ABC Records in January 2007. The run of dates for the much-loved Bibb will take in all capital cities, as well as several regional dates and both the Port Fairy, Mossvale, and Blue Mountains folk festivals.
For fans of incredible bass playing, the exquisite Danny Thompson, who began his career in the legendary sixties folk rock group Pentangle, and went on to accompany artists such as Roy Orbison, Richard Thompson and Kate Bush, will join Eric on stage for the entire tour. In duo mode, audiences will be given an opportunity to hear Eric’s songs in a stunning new light, as Danny casts the music in the warm glow and unmistakable character he is revered for creating.
Eric Bibb, makes his strongest, yet most personal statement to date with Diamond Days. This is an album to read as much as listen to. It is a journey into and through this unique artist. No other compilation of songs gives you a greater insight into the workings of the wonderful Mr Bibb – from the glorious, moving personal crossroad of Heading Home, to the loving humility in the tribute to those who formed his music, Still Livin’ On, through the upbeat celebration of life that is Shine On. Eric Bibb has written and recorded the album of his career in Diamond Days.
Eric Bibb's music is a rich blend of the blues with elements of folk, country, gospel, and soul. He is the son of New York folk singer Leon Bibb, who influenced Eric immeasurably with exposure to a wide variety of acoustic folk music and the opportunity to "hang out" with performers like Pete Seeger and Bob Dylan in the sixties when Eric was a young boy. He later went on to immerse himself in pre-war blues guitar playing and songwriting, moved to Europe in his twenties and eventually settled in Sweden where a world music folk scene was emerging ahead of being marketed throughout the globe.
Eric’s first album, Good Stuff, was released in 1997 and he quickly established himself as one of the great new blues and folk talents in the world. Accolades came from his peers such as Taj Mahal who said, "Eric is one of the new, young singers that has appeared on the scene that, much to my delight, has a great voice, is an excellent performer, and has a great knowledge about the roots of the music."
Venue Magazine raved, "(Eric is) blindingly beautiful... One of the greatest 'new' talents to arise in blues music." While Time Out Magazine has said, "Smooth, subtle, soulful & sophisticated, his is a beautiful and moving take on classic, coolly laidback acoustic blues."
A performance by Eric Bibb is an enriching experience – both musically and spiritually. Purveying a beautifully realised and deftly accomplished, soulful and gospel infused, folk- blues, Eric has no problem melding a traditional rootsy American style with a subtle contemporary sensibility. As one critic wrote "Eric’s singing and versatile guitar playing fuses a variety of genres to become a New World Blues".

Kristina Olsen is one of the most entertaining and compelling performers on the
international folk circuit. A superb multi-instrumentalist (acoustic guitar, steel-body slide
guitar, saxophone, concertina and piano) as well as an award-winning songwriter with a
big bluesy voice, Kristina has audiences around the world coming back for more. Her
mix of powerful songs ranging from sassy bottleneck blues to lilting ballads to swing
jazz to raunch and roll (as well as her hilarious storytelling) makes for a diverse and
satisfying musical experience, on stage and on disc.
Born in San Francisco and raised in Haight-Asbury during the 1960's, Kristina's
approach to music and life was formed by that environment of vital cultural expression,
social activism and diverse musical influences. She now calls Venice Beach, Los
Angeles home but rarely sees it from touring ten months a year.
Be sure not to Miss her with Eric Bibb & Danny Thompson.
