“The new soul-folk sensation sweeping NPR stations across the country is actually worth the hype.”
The New York Post

“He's got a sly, easygoing voice, and when he slides into falsetto there's a touch of Princely flutter, as well as Jeff Buckley's raw, unedited emotion.”
The Philadelphia Inquirer

“Amos Lee (played) a graceful, laid-back set …a beautifully crafted slice of coffeehouse soul…His singing, as ever, was a gorgeous blend of sweet and seasoned.”
The Boston Globe- live review

For immediate release – Sublime soul-folk artist, Amos Lee, is heading to Australia for the first time, playing shows nationally in March and April including spots at the East and West Coast Blues and Roots Music Festivals.

A Philadelphian who signed to the prestigious Blue Note records in 2004, Amos Lee released his debut self-titled album in 2005 to critical acclaim, now following through with a second album in Supply and Demand, which is rich in big league songwriting, compelling musicianship and captivating vocals.

Amos draws on influences that read like a hip older sibling’s record collection: Bill Withers, Donny Hathaway, John Prine, Stevie Wonder, Neil Young. But like all those artists Lee conjures a vibe uniquely his own. Amos takes a minimalist approach to his songs, opting for spare, acoustic accompaniment, while letting his rich, evocative voice do the heavy lifting. The result is a unique brand of folk-soul that aims to unite, uplift, and inspire.

Supply And Demand illuminates Amos Lee’s growth from emerging singer-songwriter to established recording artist. To follow up his well received debut, Lee retraced his roots, teaming with producer Barrie Maguire, with whom Lee worked on his earliest studio recordings in 2002. Their latest collaboration, recorded between Philadelphia and Los Angeles, showcases Lee’s multifarious writing style with dynamic arrangements and a well suited sonic palate.

In Australia, Lee will be performing with his excellent band, which helped arrange Amos’ songs on the new album - the bulk of which was penned either backstage, onstage at sound checks, or in hotel rooms. Lee and his band have spent the better part of three years on the road, sharing the stage with such legendary artists as Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Merle Haggard, and John Prine. As Amos says, “When guys like that are sitting at the table, you sometimes don’t even want to touch your fork, but we showed up every night and stood behind the songs the best we could, and for the most part had a good time doing it.”

They had a good time, and in a sweeping word of mouth couple of years, so did audiences at each of the shows Amos and his band played at.

Be sure to catch Amos Lee and his band at one of his shows across Australia. The work ethic of Amos and the group is astutely apparent live, as their intangible, almost innate compliment to Lee creates a splendid atmosphere for these songs to come to life.
