MICHAEL CHUGG WINS INTERNATIONAL
PROMOTER OF THE YEAR FOR THE THIRD TIME

Australian music industry impresario, Michael Chugg, has once again taken out the international touring industry’s most auspicious award – Pollstar’s ‘International Promoter of the Year.’

Chugg was awarded this prestigious honour at The 22 Annual Pollstar Concert Industry Awards which took place at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on Saturday 5 February. Pollstar, the world’s leading touring trade publication, presents these awards as part of the annual CIC (Concert Industry Consortium) Conference. The awards honour touring acts, promoters, agents, managers, venues and production companies.

A true testament to his ongoing commitment and passion for the business, this is the third time that Chugg has taken out the award. The first in 2000, for the year 1999, shortly after launching his own company and then again in early 2009 when he shared the nominations with several major independent promoters as well as a number of well-established promoters belonging to the industry’s dominating global music groups; Live Nation and AEG Live.

This time around for the year 2010, Michael Chugg was once again up against a who’s who of international promoters and was significantly the only nominee from Australia.

Michael Chugg has said “To receive this award for the third time is not only a great honour for myself and my company, but also for the Australian music industry. To be offered such recognition on an international platform is testament to the health of the live touring industry here at the moment and it’s good to see we’re holding our own against some of the biggest markets in the world.”

The distinguished honour comes only a week after Chugg also took out ‘The Immortal’ award at The 2nd Annual Rolling Stone Awards in Sydney, Australia. The honour is a lifetime achievement award for outstanding contributions to popular culture.

Already 2011 is gearing up to be a huge year for Chugg Entertainment with a vast array of international acts confirmed for the next few months including Bob Dylan, BB King, Santana and Keith Urban, with many more exciting announcements to come.
